Giani/Granthi– (Religious Worker)



Competent, Experienced Gianis, Kathakars and Paathis


MAIN DUTIES:                                

To perform pastoral duties of a Giani/Granthi (Religious Worker)  which includes to install and close

Guru Garanth Sahib ji (Sikh Holy Scriptures) daily with Reverence, read and interpret

Gurbani - the Sikh holy scriptures to congregation, to perform Keertan - singing of hymns

from Guru Granth Sahib ji in accompaniment of Indian musical instrument, to conduct Sikh religious ceremonies

of weddings, births, baptisms, deaths, and to lead the congregation in saying daily Ardaas (prayer)



Knowledge and experience of reciting and explaining the Holy Sikh Scriptures. Performing Keertan - singing hymns, art of playing Indian musical instruments (Harmonium or Tabla etc). Must be a practising Amritdhari Sikh. Speaking English is desirable.



£7.83  per hour



Required to reside on Gurdwara premises where lodging and boarding provided by the Employer.


HOURS :                                           

Full Time -  30 Hours per week.



Statutory holiday entitlement


CONTRACT PERIOD:                      

Fixed Term two years.


PROBATION PERIOD:                   

3 Months
